Grow Getters Community Program

Grow Getter Mission

Logo with wht outline.png

Our mission is to inspire young minds to explore the wonders of nature through gardening. We aim to foster creativity, responsibility, and teamwork by teaching children how to grow plants, care for the  environment, and develop a deeper connection with the natural world. Together, we will nurture not only gardens but also the values of sustainability, patience, and the joy of learning.

Everyone is welcome to join

Our vision is to create a true community celebration—where kids, parents, grandparents, adults, business owners, and everyone in between come together. Let’s unite in joy and creativity to make something truly beautiful.

SUMMER PROGRAMS 2025

Rec staff will be at the GG Garden (Grow Getters Garden) every Saturday throughout the summer working on getting our space  established.  We will be building raised garden beds, setting up potting stations, planning out what to plant and where, creating seating spaces... the works. Saturday Work Days will begin Saturday, May 31.  Work Days will run from 10 AM to Noon. (subject to change from time to time)

We will post sign up opportunities if you'd like to come and help out during these Work Days.

We will also offer Project Days where will be teaching participants how to make various  garden accessories by reusing or repurposing already available materials. A main pillar of the Grow Getters mission is environmental friendliness. We do not want to add to waste but rather put it to good use.

Here are the Project Days we have scheduled so far:

May 31 - Used tire planter

June 14 - Worm composting worm Bin

June 28 - Pallet garden projects pallet

Ongoing - Off-Grid Dog Wash Station dog

But wait, there's more...

We have a lot of great plans and even more great ideas in mind for the future of Grow Getters. And while this program will be run and facilitated by staff at The North Tonawanda Parks and recreation Department, we hope to find an ambitious core of community members to head up some projects and help us carry this program further than we can imagine.

It's a work in progress. We're sure it will change and grow with time just as  nature does. We will rely on your input, your hard work and your passion for plants, the environment, and our community.

Stay tuned....
